Therapy for Teens

Stressed? Overwhelmed? Just not feeling like themselves?  Are these things you notice or hear from your teen? You're not alone and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself either.

Life at this stage can be a lot: school, friends, relationships, identity, the future, social media. It’s normal to feel stuck, anxious, or completely drained sometimes. Whether you're going through a big change or just feels off with no clear reason, therapy can help. This isn’t about having something “wrong” with you. Therapy is a space to talk, breathe, and sort through whatever’s on your mind.

You deserve support. You deserve to feel okay. Let’s start there.

Common Life Challenges Among Teens

Being a teen comes with a lot of change that can impact you emotionally, socially, and mentally. It’s a time of growth, but also uncertainty, pressure, and sometimes pain. Whether you’re juggling school, relationships or big life decisions like choosing a college or a career, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed.

Therapy can help you make sense of it all, build healthy coping tools, and help you feel more in control.

Common reasons teens seek therapy include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • School stress or academic challenges

  • Family or relationship conflicts

  • Identity or self-esteem issues

  • Social anxiety or isolation

  • Trauma or grief

  • Self-harm or risky behavior

  • life transitions and uncertainty

  • Low self-esteem/self doubt

  • Perfectionism

Effective Forms of Therapy for Teens

Individual Therapy

In our one-on-one sessions, I’ll create a space that feels safe, supportive, and centered on you. Your story, your pace, and your values. I honor your lived experiences and how your background, identity, and environment may shape what you're going through. Depending on your needs, I may draw from approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused strategies, or explore past experiences and patterns. My style is flexible and down-to-earth, blending practical tools with space to reflect, process, and grow without pressure or judgment.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be very effective because it allows teens to see how their peers handle their problems. It can also provide a supportive and validating environment for growth. Most groups have five to seven participants and one leader who will facilitate and guide the conversation.
