Do you offer a free consultation before starting services?
Yes! A brief consultation call is required before scheduling an intake. This gives us a chance for us to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit. It's important to me that you and your child feel comfortable and supported and that my approach is the right match for you and your child's needs. Before we begin working together, I want to make sure I’m the best person to help.
It’s a no-pressure, complimentary call that typically lasts around 15 minutes.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. Every plan is different, so it’s a good idea to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network therapy benefits. I’m also happy to help or answer any questions about how this works.
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
How does it work? What happens in sessions?
Every one is different, so sessions are tailored to their individual needs and goals.
For children who meet in person, sessions often include play-based activities, games, and guided interactions that help them express themselves and build skills in a natural, engaging way.
For tweens and teens who meet online, sessions focus on conversation, activities, and strategies that fit a virtual setting, helping them develop skills, reflect on challenges, and practice new ways of coping or communicating.
How long will it take?
Every child is different. We’ll track progress together and adjust goals as needed, with your support at home helping your child get the most out of therapy.
Do you offer in-person or telehealth services?
Great question! I currently offer a limited number of in-person therapy sessions for children in South Pasadena, CA on Sundays. For tweens, teens, and parents, I provide telehealth therapy sessions and parent consultations throughout California on various days and times during the week.
If you’re unsure which option is the best fit, I’m happy to help you decide.
I want to help my child get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
I’m so glad you’re committed to supporting your child’s therapy journey. Your involvement truly makes a difference. Parents play a big role in helping children make progress, and your encouragement, consistency, and collaboration will be an important part of your child’s success
What is my role in my child’s therapy?
Parent involvement is a key part of the therapeutic process. I schedule regular parent consultation sessions to discuss your child’s progress, share observations from the playroom, and collaborate on how to best support them at home and school.
These sessions are just for parents or caregivers and provide a valuable space to reflect on any changes you’re noticing (or not), talk about how to use new skills and strategies at home, and adjust goals or approaches as needed.
We will discuss frequency of our consultations during our intake assessment and can meet on zoom or by phone. We’re a team, and your insight is essential to the work we do together.
